Role Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Lead / Project Cost Accountant to support the financial management of multiple regional engineering and manufacturing projects. This role will be responsible for project cost control, budgeting, forecasting, commercial reporting, cash flow management, and financial governance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with contractual and financial requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Project Cost Control

  • Track and manage project costs from initiation through completion.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, actual costs, and variance analysis across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Maintain accurate cost-to-complete projections.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Partner with Procurement and Project Management teams to develop project budgets.
  • Update financial forecasts and cost projections throughout the project lifecycle.

Commercial Reporting

  • Prepare project cost reports, financial dashboards, and management reports.
  • Provide insights into project profitability and financial performance.

Contract & Change Management

  • Support contract administration, including evaluation of variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Ensure commercial activities remain aligned with contractual requirements.

Procurement & Cost Validation

  • Review supplier quotations, purchase orders, and subcontractor cost submissions.
  • Validate costs against approved budgets and project plans.

Cash Flow & Revenue Management

  • Monitor project cash flow, invoicing schedules, and collections.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate revenue recognition and forecasting.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Identify and report commercial and financial risks.

Finance & Business Support

  • Prepare financial analysis and supporting documentation for management reviews.
  • Support stakeholders with cost allocation, project performance, and financial queries.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in project cost control, project accounting, commercial finance, or project controlling within a manufacturing, engineering, construction, or project-based environment.
  • Exposure to regional or international business operations.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, costing methodologies, budgeting, and commercial management.
  • Strong capabilities in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and project cost reporting tools.
  • Experience working with financial reporting and project management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with regional and cross-functional teams.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
