We are currently seeking a Microbiologist/Biotechnologist (Food) for a global consulting company with a strong presence in the healthcare and life science industries. This key role will focus on managing fermentation processes, handling strain management, and performing microbiology testing across bench scale to production. The ideal candidate will have experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments and demonstrate strong technical expertise combined with a 'can-do' startup mentality.

Reporting: Managing Director
The Role:
1) Fermentation Technology & Microbiology Testing:
- Oversee and execute benchtop and pilot scale fermentations, including the operation of pilot plant and laboratory equipment.
- Perform routine microbiological testing, including contamination testing, microbial isolation, and sample analysis.
- Manage cell bank construction, maintenance, and microbial strain storage.
2) Bench Scale Strain Management to Production:
- Handle strain management from bench scale experiments through to full production, ensuring the successful scale-up of fermentation processes.
- Collaborate with process engineers to develop and optimize fermentation processes, troubleshooting challenges during scale-up.
3) Plating and Culture Growth:
- Perform plating, culture growth, and microbial cell counting, ensuring the successful cultivation and characterization of microorganisms.
- Support the development and execution of microbial contamination testing and environmental monitoring.
The Experience:
- Ideally with a Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Ideally with 5+ years of experience in the field with industry experience
- Hands-on experience in fermentation technology, strain management, microbiology testing, and plating.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a startup environment.
