Global Data Center Architect
Overview:
We are seeking a experienced and well-rounded Global Data Center Architect to lead the design and technical direction of complex, high-performance data center solutions. This role requires a unique combination of technical depth, commercial awareness, and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at a strategic level.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience across both white space and grey space systems, a strong grasp of data center sub-systems, and the ability to support customer-facing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end architectural design of data centers, including both white space (IT infrastructure, structured cabling, racks, networking) and grey space (power, cooling, BMS, physical security).
- Oversee the integration of various data center sub-systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and compliance.
- Work closely with sales and commercial teams to support customer conversations, pre-sales solutioning, and technical presentations.
- Ensure that data center designs adhere to industry standards (TIA/EIA, Uptime, ISO, etc.) and are optimized for AI, high-density workloads, and modern network architectures.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including MEP consultants, vendors, system integrators, and customers.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in the data center industry, including next-gen fiber systems, cooling solutions, and power distribution.
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts and partners within the data center ecosystem.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in data center design, delivery, or consulting roles.
- Proven expertise in both white space (structured cabling, copper/fiber systems, transceivers, patch panels, IT racks) and grey space (UPS, PDUs, cooling, containment, BMS).
- Knowledge / familiarity with:
- Structured cabling (CAT6/6A/7, STP/UTP)
- Fiber systems and connectors (SC, LC, MPO, MTP, VSFF)
- Transceivers: SFP/SFP+, QSFP/QSFP-DD, OSFP
- DACs, AOCs, RJ45 patch panels
- Experience managing or working closely with MEP and infrastructure teams on power and cooling design.
- Experience working in or with colocation, hyperscale, enterprise, edge, or HPC data center environments.
- Strong stakeholder and customer-facing communication skills.
- Certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, CDFOM, or BICSI are highly advantageous.
- A network of contacts within the data center design, infrastructure, or vendor ecosystem is a plus.
What Success Looks Like:
- You design and lead technically sound, scalable, and standards-compliant data center solutions.
- You help bridge engineering and commercial objectives, engaging confidently with customers when needed.
- You serve as a trusted internal advisor, connecting sub-systems into a unified architecture.
- You help the organization strengthen its position as a leader in structured cabling and data center connectivity solutions.
